Feltham and Heston MP Seema Malhotra has praised the team of volunteers behind the Heston Action Group after attending the Spring Festival at Heston Community Garden last weekend.
The Heston Action Group have been contributing to the cleaning and greening of the local area since 2018. The Heston Community Garden is one of their projects, located behind The Crossways.
The Spring Festival saw a celebration of the West London Tree Hub project, which was created by the Heston Action Group with funding from Mayor of London, as well as seed sharing, talks, walks and some refreshments together with friends and neighbours.
Malhotra said: “I’m proud to have supported and been part of the Heston Action Group since its beginnings. It’s amazing to see how the community garden has grown and exciting steps it has taken – whether that’s the small fruit orchard, herb garden, the new pond, the flowerbeds or the tree nursery. Local school children are helping to look after the nursery – with 150 children so far having had outdoor classes learning about trees and sustainability.
This is a transformational project supported by the Mayor of London that is making a big difference for our local environment. But more than that, it is about sustainability, resilience and well-being and creating new ways of living at the heart of our community.”
