Seema Malhotra, the Member of Parliament for Feltham and Heston and Shadow Minister for Business and Consumers, has attended the FareShare event at Feltham Dukes Green Tesco.

FareShare has worked with Tesco since 2012 to help alleviate poverty in the UK by ensuring surplus food within its supply chain is used to feed people and doesn’t end up as waste.

The partnership with FareShare is a core element of Tesco’s Little Helps Sustainability Plan to both reduce food waste and support local communities and during the last eight years has redistributed more than 100 million meals to almost 20,000 charities and community groups across the UK.

She said: “Thank you to everyone who volunteered and supported the FareShare event at Dukes Green Tesco this week as part of the Tesco Winter Food Collection in partnership with the Trussell Trust and Fareshare and with this year being the 10th Anniversary of the project. Thankyou to all shoppers for the generous amount of food donated to Feltham Food Bank with 20% on top donated in cash from Tesco FareShare to help support those in need this winter. It was good to meet volunteers and the store team to support the project.”
