Seema with Rivers Academy pupils
I was delighted to help launch the Demos Kratos project with the year seven students at Rivers Academy in September by speaking about my work as an MP and answering some excellent questions.
Throughout this exciting project they have learned how to undertake research on issues important to them and make a case for what needs to change locally. I was impressed to see the final reports and recommendations and to receive letters at the House of Commons on issues such as anti-social behavior, knife crime, litter and the cost-of-living crisis.
This project clearly shows how important it is that young people’s voices are heard by decision makers in local councils and in Westminster. I would like to thank them all for their hard work on this project at school and I will be sharing their insights with the local council and police to see what can be done to tackle the issues raised.
