The world must not stand by as we watch the unfolding devastating situation in Afghanistan. Social progress is being rolled back and the rights of women and minorities pushed aside amid increasing destabilisation in Afghanistan and the region. There is going to be a huge price paid with a refugee and humanitarian crisis and a wider threat to international peace and security. We need an international response urgently. We cannot walk away from the Afghan people.

There is a consular team managing the Afghanistan situation – please send any emails or queries to: crisis@fcdo.gov.uk – This inbox is monitored around the clock and they said they would respond to information sent there.

In addition, for people who are currently in Afghanistan, they should call the British Embassy Kabul on +93 (0) 700 102 000 or +44 (0)1908 516666 and select the option “Consular services for British nationals” as soon as possible.
