Responding to today’s announcement about Heathrow Airport expansion, Seema Malhotra MP said:
“The Davies Commission settled the question that we need expansion of aviation capacity and today the Government finally came to a decision on Heathrow. More than half the people who work in my constituency depend on the Airport directly or indirectly for their livelihoods. I recognise the benefits that expansion will bring in terms of jobs and the national economy. However there is still a long way to go to prove that families who live near the Airport will be protected from environmental impacts particularly in terms of air quality and noise. I will be scrutinising the details of the decision closely and engaging with my constituents to make sure the proposal addresses the needs of local people through the period of consultation ahead.”
