“The FCO is working tirelessly to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are doing everything we can to assist people who have been impacted overseas, especially those who are most vulnerable.

In further restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Government of India announced that no international commercial flight would be allowed to land in India from 22 March 2020 for one week, and the Government has issued lockdown in several affected districts. We understand that because of these domestic restrictions, many British people in India are finding it difficult to return to the UK. The UK Government is working with airlines and international partners to reopen routes, and is calling for international action to keep air routes open for a sufficient period of time to enable international travellers to return on commercial flights. Until flights resume, British nationals in India should be prepared to stay in country. We advise that your constituents stay ready to comply with local isolation, testing or quarantine requirements, and to rely on the local health system.

The British High Commission New Delhi has moved into crisis mode and currently has a dedicated mailbox for British nationals in India who wish to return urgently to the UK. This email address is: Conqry.Newdelhi@fco.gov.uk. I advise that your constituent send an email to this address registering their interest, including full name (and names of any family members travelling with them with right of abode in the UK), Date of Birth, passport number, visa status, date of arrival/return & contact details.
