Seema Malhotra, the MP for Feltham and Heston, has welcomed the green light from Hounslow Council’s Planning Committee for the regeneration of local asset Hanworth Park House.
Malhotra has supported the campaign to restore the derelict Hanworth Park House and bring it into community use for six years, during which time it has fallen into further disrepair. She will serve as a Patron of the Hanworth Park House Society when the organisation gets charitable status.
Commenting on the news that Hanworth Park House’s application had been approved by the Planning Committee, the local MP said:
“This is excellent news for our area.”
“Hanworth Park House is not just a local asset, but a national one. It has contributed to our nation’s royal history, political history, aviation history and social history. We have a duty and responsibility to our historic assets, and to preserve some fascinating local and national history.”
“Work must urgently begin. There is not long left before we no longer even have the option to save the House. Since I first visited Hanworth Park House around 6 years ago, when you could walk through much of the house and upstairs, it is devastating to see how the condition has deteriorated so rapidly such that it is not safe to enter.”
“This could be our answer to Gunnersbury Park. We must be ambitious.”
