Yesterday I spoke to BBC London News about the ongoing shocking scale of overcharging of tenants and leaseholders for basic services by housing associations. This is an issue on which I have been campaigning inside and outside Parliament for years.
We have seen shockingly slow progress by Government on tackling this despite two inquiries in recent years by the Select Committee to which I and local residents have given evidence.
In the coming year I’ll be again pushing for further changes in the law, in consumer rights and in strengthening regulations and powers of regulators. We need to see an end to overcharging and lack of transparency and much greater accountability for value for money.
This is a powerful report by BBC’s Frankie McCamley.
