Schools in Feltham and Heston,
I am sure that you are aware that at the end of March, the Department for Education published their education white paper “Opportunity for All: strong schools with great teachers for your children” and their “SEND Review: right support, right place, right time”. Regarding the SEND Review, the Government is holding a consultation, for which the deadline to respond is 11:45pm on the 1st of July 2022.
With the impact and backdrop of the pandemic still affecting day to day school life, I would be very interested to know from you directly on whether you think the measures outlined in the plans will support schools and teachers in delivering for your students. I would particularly appreciate your insight and perspective on a couple of question:
- What do you see as the current biggest issues being faced by schools?
- Will the white paper help you as school leaders address these issues? If not, what actions do you think should be taken?
- From your perspective, what are the biggest SEND issues facing you as a school and in our Hounslow Community?
- Considering the SEND proposals set out in the green paper, how would you respond to the consultation?
